We’re looking for a Senior Project Engineer with a wide range of internet-facing hosting experience to work with our key customers across Europe and beyond.

This is a challenging role which will push your knowledge and experience to the limits. You’ll be able to build and maintain complex server infrastructures in both “greenfield” and “brownfield” environments; following design documentation and self-solving complex technical problems, often with little or no direction and limited support.

This role will be based in our York Head Office, but will require frequent travel to customer sites across Europe. It goes without saying that we’ll support this both logistically and financially, but we’ll need you to be flexible in your approach to both working hours and travel.

What this role involves…

  • Working on-site with customers, resolving complex server-based issues.
  • Producing high quality documentation, following all relevant standards
  • Communicating with a wide variety of external customers and internal teams
  • Going above and beyond to solve customers’ software and hardware problems, often in pressurised, time sensitive situations.

What we’ll need you to bring…

  • A real depth of knowledge and experience working with Linux (REHL & CentOS), with the ability to interrogate and configure systems using CLI
  • If you also have experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, that would be ideal.
  • A broad level of knowledge across Operating Systems, networking, web technologies, databases, and enterprise systems management systems
  • Experience of HP Blade centre c7000 series & ProLiant server hardware
  • You will be confident dealing with customers, both face-to-face and by phone/e-mail.

Due to the nature of this role, having an awareness of current ITIL standards would also be a real advantage.

What we’ll give you in return

  • Wide exposure to some incredible development and web technologies
  • The chance to work closely with some amazingly talented people
  • Opportunity to broaden your horizons and expands your knowledge base, travelling to customer locations across the globe
  • Unrivalled personal growth and a clear path for development
  • Respect for your ideas and acknowledgement for a job well-done
  • A competitive package and all the benefits you’d expect from a caring employer
